January/February 2019 Newsletter

Dear Friends and Family,

Happy New Year! I hope you and yours had a blessed Christmas. I trust that you have made some wonderful New Years resolutions that you will be able to keep ☺. As usual there is a song, written by Bill and Gloria Gaither, that pretty much says what my 2019 New Year’s resolution is.  These are the lyrics:

“I want to live the way He wants me to live,
I want to give until there’s just no more to give,
I want to love, love till there’s just no more love,
I could never, never out love the Lord.”

I hope and pray as you read this first 2019 Akins newsletter your hearts will be blessed. This will be the last newsletter that I will consistently write the inspirational article at the beginning. As I continue to watch my grown children serve our Lord I realize that they also have many wonderful things to share. As I have already shared with you I am feeling as if God would have me lead a little less and walk beside a little more as my precious sons and their wives help me to better understand how to reach this world that is so quickly changing.

In 2019 you will begin to read powerful inspirational articles from different members of our family as God uses our whole family to share what He is doing in their lives. I hope and pray that you will be touched like I am when I listen to them in our ministry meetings share what God is teaching them. They have so much to share.

As we begin year 32 of our ministry, we will be Fighting For The Family with all we have.  Please keep us in your daily prayers that God will continue to open doors and lead us where we are needed the most.

I Love and Appreciate You All So Very Much,

A Note From Nick and Julie:

December brought our family the flu, bronchitis, and several upper respiratory infections. Please pray that we can stay healthy in 2019. We're excited to see what God has in store for us as we seek to travel and minister together. Please pray as we have entered the waiting period of our adoption process. The next step will be finding the match for the child God has for our family. We are thankful that so far, every adoption expense has been provided for. Please pray that God continues to provide in the coming months as more fees are due. You can keep up with our adoption journey at www.adopttogether.org/nickandjulieakin.

With love,

Nick and Julie

A Note From Eli and Whitney:

Although we were not traveling, December was a busy month for us from working on the new website to figuring out life with three little kids! It was a wonderful first Christmas for L.D. He seemed to especially love looking at the lights on the Christmas tree. Please pray for us as we head into the New Year. We have several projects on our plates including filming new promotional videos and working on our new worship album. We are so excited about what God will do in 2019! We hope you’ll join us in praying that God would send us where he wants us to go and equip us with the message he wants us to share.

We love you guys!

Eli and Whitney

Update on Davey and Sarah

It was so good to have our family together at Christmas. We are so proud of Davey for finishing his hardest semester yet with all As and Bs and managing to sleep, make a living, and spend time with Sarah and the kids. Sarah has taken a part-time job as Children’s Choir Coordinator at First Baptist Church New Orleans. Lailey, Maddox, and Avonlea are doing great and enjoying all the things Seminary and New Orleans has to offer. Please continue to pray for them and don’t forget to check out their website at www.daveyandsarah.com.  They would really appreciate your prayers and support.

How You Can Pray For the Akins:

Please continue to pray for my wife and the rock of this ministry Lagene, as she battles the pain associated with Psoriatic Arthritis.  We need our God to send his miracle of healing to her body.

Pray that God will open doors for us to Fight For The Family all over this nation in 2019 and that He will use our family to make a powerful difference this year.

Pray for us that God will supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory.

Pray that we will be blessed with strong voices, good health and most importantly, that we will be filled with God’s Holy Spirit knowing that it is not by might, power, talent or professionalism that will change lives, it will only be by His Spirit.

Our faith-based ministry survives solely on support from people like you. When you give to Akins Ministry, you are allowing us to continue to do what God has called us to do. We consider you a part of our ministry. Your gift allows us to travel to churches, even those who might not be able to afford us otherwise. It allows us to continue to travel and fight for families all over the country. It allows us to devote our full-time efforts to the calling of this ministry.
